WoW Rogue Leveling Guide
In World of Warcraft I’ve always found Rogues one of the most difficult classes to fight against and one of the most effective to fight with. Rogues have a heap of different abilities which make them hard to deal with at the best of times. Anyone who’s ever fought against a Rogue knows what I’m talking about.
Rogues are melee classes and they largely depend on their skill at avoiding hits than fighting head on. Rogues should always keep a close watch on agro meters as if a Rogue gets the attention of a boss, it’ll be killed in a heartbeat.
The biggest key to leveling a Rogue is building a solid understanding of the class.
1.) You’re not a killing machine!
As the game progresses, you are not designed to take a mob on head-on. You might get away with doing that at low levels because your DPS output can kill enemies before they wound you badly. As your level increases however you’ll find that fighting mobs becomes more challenging.
2.) Keep a close eye on the Agro Meters
Killing a boss is not a “who can do the most damage” contest. Well ok it is in a way, but if you want to live to tell the story of how you did so much damage you need to keep your eye on those agro meters to ensure that you are NOT on the top of the list.
3.) The best defensive technique, is to avoid hits.
Rogues should work on agility. The more agility a Rogue has, the more dodge ability it will have – and this means you’ll be less likely to get hit.
4.) Optimize your equipment
Something that is applicable to all classes in World of Warcraft is that they should maximize the damage they do during battle. To do this, always ensure you have the best equipment possible.
When choosing equipment, Rogues need to focus on items that provide the most Agility, Haste, Critical Hit, and Attack Power. The most important of these attributes is Agility.
5.) Lockdown
No we are not talking about a prison. When you are soloing you should use your abilities to lockdown the opponent. In a situation where you need to fight 2 opponents use your sap ability to remove one from the fight right away. This puts you in a one on one situation. Then use your gouge and other abilities to lock down the current opponent so you can dispatch them with little trouble. You can then engage the second and use the same tactics.
To sum up, as a Rogue you need to realize your weaknesses, watch your agro meters closely, focus on your agility, maximize your equipment, and lockdown opponents for easy wins. If you can remember steps, you’ll find that leveling will be much easier.
